MARCH NEWSLETTER
KVBA VOLUNTEER NEWS
This month in Volunteer News I asked La Tanya Boyce to share with us. Here’s a word from La Tanya:
When I was asked by Bill to share in our monthly newsletter for this month, it brought no other answer but YES! KVBA formerly known as TV63 played a big part in me coming to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. My ears and eyes were opened through a Share-A-Thon in 1983 as I heard John 3:16, "FOR GOD SO LOVED THE WORLD, HE GAVE HIS ONLY BEGOTTEN SON, THAT WHOSOEVER WOULD BELIEVE ON HIM SHALL NOT PERISH BUT HAVE EVERLASTING LIFE!" That night was the beginning of a great process of drawing me closer to our Lord. From that night on, doors began opening for me to share the GOOD NEWS to so many other brothers and sisters in Christ who were seeking our Lord in their daily walk. Because of a seed planted in me through Share-A-Thons, whenever given the opportunity to assist in co-hosting, teaching, answering phones and preparing for one, how could I not be there?
“The Local 19” news seems to be the season of how I am helping to reach our community with information, news, and updates through KVBA in my life at present. Who would have known how much good there is to be found in Alamogordo. Thank you Jason Karr for picking up the ball to reach our community with the Good News. What an awesome tool our Lord has given us to reach a great harvest and I am so blessed with every interview of meeting so many new people.
Having just returned from San Antonio/Houston Texas in October 2006, my heart is still burning with the vision of KVBA. It’s a vital tool to reach the LOST and encourage the believers to stay in the race. We must be about our Father's business as we endure for His return. After going through Hurricane Rita and helping the evacuees of New Orleans, it has changed my way of thinking in a lot of areas, it has increased the urgency of sharing God's Word!! Won't you seek God for a love offering to help us run this race to the end? Won't you pray for the labors to come forth, as the harvest is truly ready to hear the Word of God! Won't you come and see what part you can play in this awesome ministry. One thing I know without a shadow of a doubt is that our Lord receives ALL THE GLORY for KVBA bringing you the Good News. PRAY AND CATCH THE VISION! (I am confident of God completing this good work he has begun in you! Philippians 1:6)

Thanks La Tanya, I remember several years ago when you were
here. It seemed like you were here full time working in the vineyard. God gets
all the glory. Thank you for coming home, we need you and bless you for
answering the call. Many are called but few are chosen. Keep up the Good Work –
“Stay In The Race.” We will overcome. PTL

BROADCAST EXCELLENCE
Many of you have been calling in and asking about the horizontal lines and the popping and scratchy noise in our picture. I apologize for the current problems we are experiencing. If you’re a regular viewer of KVBA you have seen the quality go up and down over the last week or two. Each time we would hit a low point the Lord would send someone to get us up again and with the improved picture continue broadcasting. This last week has been a bit of a roller coaster for me. I was being advised by John Warren, (for those of you who are new to KVBA, John is the son of our founder, the late Pete Warren, and is himself an engineer) to go up to our station transmitter site on Long Ridge and look for any obvious problems, check the meter readings and so forth.
I made three trips to the remote transmitter site 9,000 feet high in the Sacramento Mountains to do what I thought needed to be done. Everything looked fine to me, but what do I know? John asked me to turn an adjustment screw or two on the receiver. My smallest screwdriver was not small enough, so I remembered seeing a truck parked near one of the other antenna sites. I thought I would ask if I might borrow a smaller screwdriver. It happened to be Barry, the owner and engineer from Radio Communication. He not only loaned me the tool, he followed me over to our antenna site and watched what I was doing. Slowly he kinda edged his way in and began helping to try and diagnose the problem. He was able to find two wires that needed some immediate repair. They were frayed and ready to short out at any moment. It didn’t quite fix our problem but it was extremely good preventive maintenance.
The next day when I was on the mountain, Elias, the chief engineer from ABC in El Paso, called me and I was able to explain the problem to him. He said it sounded like a capacitor was weakening in the microwave transmitter back in Alamogordo. I was on the mountain and it was only 27 rough, rocky, and grueling miles away. So down the mountain to the station I go, sure enough, he told me to look for a capacitor that was burnt or swelling and there was one that had a bit of a swelling to it. By this time, Jason our all around technician and videographer was off work from his full time job and was able to change out the capacitor and guess what another improvement.
Then on Sunday after Church, Elias and his wife dropped in. He got into the wiring diagrams and figured out which parts needed to be replaced. He will order them for us on Monday. So again, from the brink of being off air comes help from the Lord. Thank you John, Barry, Jason and Elias, and most of all thank you Lord for your goodness and mercy.
Well, it’s not that simple. Our signal is messing up again and two of the items are on back order; however we were able to find a location in Chicago that had the parts. We ordered them over night and hope to get them tomorrow. Hopefully by the time you get this newsletter, our technical problems will be nothing more than a bad memory.
I do want to thank the five individuals that brought in a donation to help us in the midst of our technical problems. It’s such a blessing to have the Lord’s people respond in such a wonderful way. There was a total of $270 given to help in our need. God bless all of you that either prayed and or gave financial assistance. I will give you a detailed accounting in my next newsletter.
